Nice paper Jean-Louis,

The trend goes on. Simultaneously with its S90, Canon also announced last week the G11, a replacement to the G10, their high-end compact camera for (semi-)professionals. It's a slightly more advanced version of the S90.

The G10 had 15 mpixels, too small. The G11 has 10 mpixels, with a similar size sensor. Unfortunately, no HD video, even 720p, like with the Lumix LZ7.

The S90 seems attractive, though. It's lens opens at 2.0 (in wide angle) while the G11 opens only at 2.8. So, for low lights situations, the S90 may be even better than the G11 with which it shares the same sensor and electronics. Impatient to look at sample pics!

Meanwhile, the Nikon D3, D700 or Canon 5D II remain the best for low lights situations (and the 5D II does excellent 1080p videos). Looks like I'll always be disappointed by these new compacts whatever the progress they make !
