I must say, this article resonates with me as a blogger who reviews things. In my case, concerts.

I go to concerts all over the country to photograph and review them. I never pay to get into a concert or production. It's all provided by the record labels I've contacted registering my interest in shooting at, and reviewing one of their artists.

At first I too felt a bit uncomfortable getting in for free and writing an unbiased review. Especially as the record label were often footing my travel costs as well as the price of the ticket. (I am completely independent though, I do not work for anyone but myself).

So I made a compromise and a promise. I would accept the free tickets to the concerts. I would write an honest review of the show, weather it was great or it was terrible. I'd be completely honest. And I would fund the travel costs myself. (often around £500 a month.)

It's been a very rewarding part of my life, and I absolutely love it.
