"Facebook is successfully selling itself to advertisers at over $800M a year… Google "

Google's got problems. FB on the rise; no viable mobile strategy. With the Android platform looking increasingly precarious, I bet they are sorry they pissed of Apple.

BTW: to some of the above commenters-- to get CONTENT on Facebook, you typically have to "like" some news agency you like-- NPR, Tricycle, whatever.

Difficult to be thorough with all the hype. Yes Facebook is a phenomenon but, how do we measure it properly when Facebook does not release true information to third parties and controls every aspect of its network? Of the accounts created, how many are active? How much of login time is actually spent on Facebook gaming? How much sales of products is it generating? What are the demographics? We know one thing for sure, Facebook is successfully selling itself to advertisers at over $800M a year... Google beware.

Very strong opening statement. And fully agreed. Mastering Facebook for marketing/branding is as important as search engine optimization or any other marketing strategy. Your article puts it in perfect perspective.
